FAQS- Frequently Asked ?'s About Summer Camp

Some Frequently Asked Questions...

Who comes to camp?

Camp is home to campers from all over!  A majority of campers live in Franklin and St. Lawrence County. However, we have many that come from neighboring counties and quite a few that come from out of state and from Canada.   All youth ages 7-17 by the start of their selected camp week may attend.

Cloverbud and Cloverleaf Camps- What does that mean?

Perhaps your camper (or you!) aren't quite ready for a week at camp.  If that's the case, our Clover Mini-Camps are offered for just 2 nights and 3 days.  During those camps, campers are placed with others their same age and get a "sampler" of many of the activities that we offer at camp.  Cloverbuds are ages 6-8 and Cloverleafs are ages 9-11. Cloverbuds/leafs don't need to choose classes for their stay. These camps are NOT required for participation in our 1-week traditional camps, which are open for ages 7-17.

Where will my child be staying?

Campers live in rustic cabins among the trees and around the main camp. Each cabin houses between 6 and 18 youth along with 2 staff members. Campers will share their space with other campers close to their age and the same gender. The cabins have bunked beds with plastic mattresses.  As there is no heat or air conditioning in the cabins, send your camper with bedding for both cold and warm weather. We suggest a fitted and flat sheet, as well as either blankets or a sleeping bag and pillow. Take a look at some of our cabins here:  Camper Cabins

What should my camper pack?  Expect that your camper will be active outside in possibly hot, cool, and rainy weather throughout the day (early morning into early evening).  They will be in the grass, the woods, near the water, possibly jumping in puddles and rolling in the grass.  Please have them bring/wear clothing that is comfortable, durable, and can get dirty.  Camp is not responsible for lost, misplaced or damaged personal items.  Here is a recommended Packing List for your reference:  Packing List

Will my child be exposed to the outdoors?

Yes! Camp contains a blend of forests, open fields, and lakes. Our fun, outdoor activities help campres embrace the opportunity to disconnect from their electronics and reconnect with nature and other campers. Because we are a rustic camping program, it is not uncommon for campers to see chipmunks, rabbits, spiders, or bugs around camp.  Respect for animals, plants and all other aspects of the environment is expected.

What is the weather like at camp?

Most days are sunny with temperatures ranging from 60-80 degrees, but we do have rainy or stormy days on occasion. Nights often bring cooler temperatures of 40-60 degrees. Please keep these conditions in mind when packing.

Can my camper bring a friend? Campers are assigned to cabins based on their gender and age. We do allow campers to request to be in a cabin with a friend or “cabinmate.” Being cabinmates means campers would be in the same cabin.

How do I request a cabinmate?

During registration online, there is a question asking if you request a "cabinmate". Please type in the first and last name of your child’s friend.  We will try to honor cabinmate requests as long as the following guidelines are observed:

  • May request up to 2 cabinmates,

  • Must be same gender and within 2 years of age,

  • Must request on the registration form,

  • Request must be mutual- requested by both campers.

  • If an older camper requests a younger camper, they will be assigned to the younger cabin.

Is there transportation?

No. We do not provide transportation to and from camp.

Will my camper need money while at camp?

No- everything at camp is included- food, snacks, all activities, and enjoyment in the outdoors! Please do not send money along with your camper. We do have a camp store that is open for campers and families on arrival and departure days.  You can also pre-order camp shirts/sweatshirts to have delivered to camp for your camper's arrival. The deadline to pre-order is June 15th and can be ordered here:  Order T-shirts and Hoodies
